The One ContaINS THE ALL
The One Contains The All is a meditation on memory, impermanence, and our relationship with the natural world. Through time-consuming processes of gardening, natural dye and paper lithography, this body of work explores the natural world and our place in it - the philosophies and histories that shape our landscape, the sense of life moving forward through time. The photographs come from botanical gardens, backyards, and conservatories of flowers, taken in places that are special to me over the course of four years. The memories meld visually in maximalist collages and are held quietly in solitary moments. In these works, there are lyrical echoes from songs I have written, books I have read, and things loved ones have said. There is beauty in impermanence, in the ephemeral, in the dissolving and waning, and there is meaning and an entire universe held in the petals of a flower.
